“With the participation of 45 European leaders, this is undoubtedly the largest event of its kind in Europe in history,” said Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) at the summit. He considers it an important informal meeting, that the summit will not bring with it a bound debate, a number of requirements, whether formal or customary. Written conclusions are not the main thing in this case.
“The effort is to create a space for the meeting of all the leaders of European countries, therefore, we will have the opportunity to welcome here not only the French President Emmanuel Macron, but also the British Prime Minister Liz Trussová,” Fiala pointed out.
The Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU “must deal with the enormous challenges and crises that Europe is going through and which will undoubtedly be the topic of the first meeting of the European Political Community, whatever it is” peace and security, energy, the environment, the economy and other key issues facing Europe now,” Fiala home team.
“The goal is not to come to any written conclusion, the goal is to discuss and create some framework agreement on the further progress of European countries in the discussed areas,” stated Fiala. Thursday’s meeting will be followed by an informal European Council, “where we will mainly discuss energy and Ukraine”. “In any case, I believe that the summit will be excellent advertising for the Czech Republic and Prague,” added Fiala.
