Tamás Menczer: Hungary’s gas supply is guaranteed
Hungary’s gas supply is guaranteed and will continue to be so during the winter months – said the Secretary of State responsible for the development of bilateral relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the current program of the M1 channel on Tuesday evening.
Tamás Menczer explained: we are safe because we have a long-term gas procurement agreement with Russia, and there is also an agreement on additional quantities, gas will arrive in Hungary by pipeline from the south, and 46 percent of the annual gas consumption will be stored.
This is enough gas for 93 winter days – the politician pointed out, and then said: we won’t have any problems during the winter, there won’t be any problems with heating in the residential sector and in the industrial sector either”.Tamás Menczer recalled that the left was also irresponsible when buying the gas reservoirs and spoke against Hungarian interests, and it is still the same with the sanctions against Russia.
Hungarian interests would be satisfied if the already existing energy sanctions were abolished and no more were discussed. If that were the case, then energy prices and inflation “could be cut in half immediately,” he said.
In connection with the fact that Hungary and Uzbekistan are launching a comprehensive nuclear cooperation program, Tamás Menczer talks about how nuclear energy – the construction of the Paks nuclear power plant and Paks 2 – is an extremely important issue of sovereignty.
Without Paks, there is no Hungarian energy security, no utility reduction, he added.
The state emphasized: due to energy security, they do not support any sanction measures that would endanger the construction of Paks 2.
