Agency for business and investment support CzechInvest
ESW is one of the main European events of the space industry, which is organized by the European Commission and the European Union Agency for the Space Program under the auspices of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic and the capital city of Prague from 3 to 6 October 2022. The CzechInvest agency also participates in the preparation. As part of the event, all visitors will also be able to visit the unique Czech Space exhibition.
“Given that our long-term goal is space activities, which is closely related to their promotion and visibility, I am very happy that we can host an event such as the European Space Week in the Czech Republic,” said Václav Kobera, director of the Department. of intelligent transport systems, space activities and research, development and innovation of the Ministry of Transport.
Czech Space Team presents the Czech Space exhibition
The most visible Czech footprint at ESW is the Czech Space exhibition, which was prepared by the CzechInvest agency and the Ministry of Transport. The aim of the exhibition is to present, among other things, the Czech Space Team, which has the ambition of bringing together active players from the state sphere who want to jointly advance space activities and actively advocate for their support and development.
The main task of the Czech Space Team is to help with the successful implementation of the National Space Plan by ensuring a high level of awareness of space activities, especially from the point of view of their importance and benefits for individuals and society as a whole. The aforementioned Czech Space Week is the main event organized by the Czech Space Team. The above-mentioned institutions – the Ministry of Transport and the CzechInvest agency – are behind the creation of the Czech Space Team.
“Supporting space activities is important to us not only because it is a very key infrastructure for the functioning of society, but also because the return on investment in this sector is up to tenfold. It is also a way to realistically increase the competitiveness of the Czech Republic. I am happy that I will get the CzechInvest resource, I perceive this opportunity and, together with the Ministry of Transport, we are increasingly involved in activities related to space,” says Tereza Kubicová, deputy of the CzechInvest agency for technological development.
Czech technology wants to conquer the world, it can launch from a container to the edge of space
And it is the industrial partners who make up the content of the Czech Space exhibition. The exhibition takes the form of fifteen panels, on which you can see, in addition to the successes of the Czech Republic in space missions, also the space successes of these companies. The exhibition will be open and accessible to all visitors throughout the duration of ESW.
European women in space
Another Czech footprint in the European Space Week is the just mentioned Space 4 Women event – this time it is held in a European concept. Under the name Women in Space, you can look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, October 5 in Hall D of the Křižík pavilions.
The main content will again be a discussion of the obstacles that women will face if they decide to choose the space industry for their work. The number of women employed in the international space industry represents only approximately 20% of the workforce, which is roughly the same proportion as 30 years ago.
Pascale Ehrenfreund, president of the International Astronautical Federation IAF, Luisella Giulicchi, president of the organization Women in Aerospace, and Petr Kapoun, CEO and founder of TRL Space Systems, who is traditionally the moderator, will appear as speakers in the round table discussion to support the involvement of women in the space sector this event, but this year she will exceptionally take on the role of a panelist and act as an ambassador for supporting the greater involvement of women in space activities.
November marked by Czech Space Week
The company TRL Space Systems has become the general partner of Czech Space Week. The company’s founder and director, Petr Kapoun, has been actively involved in Czech Space Week since 2018. “This year is marked by international cooperation, and it is crucial for us. Our mission is to form partnerships with neighbors in Europe, but also on other continents. Together we can create bigger and more complex missions. We will present positive examples of such cooperation as part of our Space Together panel, which will take place as part of the Space2Business conference,” adds Petr Kapoun.
The main partners this year are three companies – ATC Space, Honeywell and OHB Czechspace, among the partners will be Advacam, CGI, Czech Space Alliance, Groundcom, Huld, Stratosyst, VZLÚ and Uneeqly. In addition to industrial companies, Czech Space Week will once again support the Brno Observatory and Planetarium and Planetum (Prague Planetarium).
