Crime index 2022, Siena is 86th in Italy but flies in computer scams and extortion
A situation of relative tranquility even if phenomena that are difficult to resolve emerge. The province of Siena is 86th out of 106 in the Il Sole 24 ore’s Lab24 ranking on the crime index in the last 12 months of 2021. This time being on the low side of the classification does not mean having made a negative performance since the top positions are occupied from the territories that have a high reporting rate for every 100 thousand inhabitants. In the province of Siena 6,698 complaints were received by the police, equal to 2556 per 100 thousand inhabitants. Going to read in detail how these reports were distributed, the data on the crimes of fraud and computer fraud immediately emerge: here Siena is fifth in Italy with 717.4 complaints per 100 thousand inhabitants (1888 total complaints). The voice on fires is also high: 11.8 complaints per 100 thousand inhabitants (31 in total) In the past twelve months 1867 thefts have been reported (712.5 per 100 thousand inhabitants), 421 are the complaints for home thefts (160.7 every 100 thousand inhabitants). Thirteen reports of robbery, equal to 5.0 per 100 thousand inhabitants.
