Ligue1- Toulouse Montpellier marked by incidents, 1 injured, 14 people arrested
The Ligue 1 match between Toulouse Football Club (TFC) and Montpellier Hérault Sport Club
(MHSC), in Toulouse this Sunday, October 2, 2022, was classified as a “risk match” by the Division
national campaign against hooliganism. The authorities had taken several measures to try to avoid overflows.

If, on the whole, the meeting took place “without serious incidents”, several facts are to be deplored on a Sunday evening, indicated the prefecture of Haute Garonne. With in the first place: the use of numerous pyrotechnic devices (smoke bombs, agricultural bombs, etc.) prohibited in sports arenas. In addition, overflows took place at the level of the visitors’ stand, where the police had to intervene and use tear gas to prevent the ransacking of the Stadium bar by Montpellier supporters.
In total, the prefecture counted Sunday evening: 1 police officer slightly injured and 14 arrests for possession, transport and use of smoke bombs and non-detonating fireworks. It should be noted that sporting sanctions could be taken against the Montpellier club.
