status quo for showmen installed without authorization on the island of Ramier
The showmen installed since Saturday morning in a parking lot on the Ile du Ramier in Toulouse have not been dislodged. Twenty caravans and rides are still on site. The town hall denounces a “coup of force in defiance of all security rules”.
The day after their installation in the middle of the night on the island of Ramier, the fairgrounds are still in place. The twenty or so caravans were not dislodged by the police and the rides are even in operation this Sunday evening.
But the public cannot access the parking lot. The municipal police have installed roadblocks to prevent entry and exit.
For now, it’s the status quo. No evacuation is planned. The situation could be Monday morning. On Saturday October 1, 2022, a bailiff went to the site to note the illegal occupation.
Lthe mayor of Toulouse had denounced “a blow of force” regretting that “some showmen have chosen not to respect the commitments made”.
As long as we are told nothing, we stay put. It’s symbolic, but we want to see a representative from the town hall so that the situation is clear for next year.
Showmen say they are thinking about other “punch” operations to make themselves heard. They could take over another place in the city or even receive the support of other showmen from all over France.
