Possible technological connections between Slovenia and Shannon are explored
At the briefing organized by the Shannon Chamber for the Slovenian ambassador to Ireland, the opportunities for the Slovenian automotive industry to take advantage of the test facilities at the Future Mobility Campus Ireland (FMCI) in Shannon were presented.
Wassim Derguech, operations director at FMCI, told Ambassador Stanislav Vidovič that the company’s participating research and test center could be of great help to many companies in Slovenia that deal with the supply of parts and accessories for the automotive industry.
“Our non-profit center, which includes Jaguar Land Rover and many other IT and automotive technology companies, is dedicated to helping design and test future connected and self-driving vehicles. FMC can be of direct practical help to Slovenian companies that want to be up-to-date with the latest ‘smart’ solutions in this sector,” he emphasized.
After the meeting, the campus will follow up on this potential ambassador connection in conjunction with the Shannon Chamber.
The Chairman of Shannon Chamber welcomed Shannon Ambassador Eoin Gavin and said the Chamber appreciated the opportunity to introduce him to the various activities of its 350 members.
He also highlighted the attractiveness of Shannon as a base from which Slovenian companies could service the British market. “Ireland is an ideal location for this purpose due to long-established close trade relations and a common language with Great Britain, as well as joint membership in the EU with Slovenia,” he added.
Ambassador Vidovič was also briefed by Ian Barret, member of the board and Helen Downes, executive director of Shannon Chamber.
