Hanover. In the coming year, the city of Hanover will renew the Vahrenwalder Bad. The administration has estimated almost five million euros for the repair of the ceiling and ventilation system. The state of Lower Saxony is contributing one million euros. The city is expected to start construction work in May next year – at the beginning of the summer closing time of the Vahrenwalder Bad. How long the work will take is still uncertain. According to the city’s plans, a schedule can only be presented once the contract has been awarded to a construction company.

Moisture penetrated the insulation
The Vahrenwalder Bad was built in 1980 and has not been renovated since then. In recent years, the roof has repeatedly had leaks, which the city has had specialist companies patch. Three years ago, a company drew the city’s attention to moisture in the insulation under the roof. An expert report showed that the statics of the roof construction was not endangered, but the roof urgently needed to be renewed.
Ventilation system is “departed”
“The existing ventilation system is also obsolete due to its age and some spare parts are no longer available,” writes the city in its plans. In the city’s view, another argument in favor of a new ventilation system is that the room climate WILL change if the bathroom gets a new, better insulated roof. According to the plans, the ventilation must be coordinated with this.
