This is one of the current mantras of the Minister of the Interior. Gérald Darmanin makes foot patrola weapon against crime daily. The national police in Toulouse illustrates this trend through two events that occurred on Wednesday September 28, 2022.
A knife and a tear gas in the pocket
Around 4 p.m., Purpan district, a patrol of Security and proximity group (GSP) passes in front of a small group of people, at the foot of a building. One of them, a young 19 year old maleis smoking a joint.
Controlled, he is asked to empty his pockets. Law enforcement will remove one knife and one tear gas spray. He ended up in custody for carrying a weapon prohibited.
Subway thief arrested
Less than two hours later, at Arenes metro stationa woman comes into contact with a foot patrol from the Departmental public transport security service (SDSTC). A man of whom she gives a detailed description has just tried to rob her.
The user was in the metro when she felt a main dive in his backpack. She turned around, quickly. And felt the individual just as swiftly let go of the cellphone that he was ready to steal from her.
The patrol quickly caught the thief, a 22 year old male “already known to the services”. He ended up in custody for attempted robbery.
