Memorable performances for the Republic of Moldova at the European Para Powerlifting Championship
The national paralympic team of the Republic of Moldova records remarkable results at the European Para Powerlifting Championship, which will be held from September 24-29, 2022 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Ștefan Roșca managed to win two silver medals (Best Lift and Total Lift) in the category up to 107 kg. Larisa Marinenkova took the silver (Total Lift) and the bronze medal (Best Lift) in the weight category up to 73 kg. Egor Briculschi, being the first to participate in the championship, manages to become European Champion (Best Lift and Total Lift) among Juniors in the 80 kg weight category. Denis Raiul managed to rank 3rd (Total Lift).
The championship in Tbilisi represented a mandatory step in the qualifications for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
The victories achieved by the athletes also belong to the coaches of the national Paralympic team: Zinaida Iov and Dumitru Prodan. The performances of the Paralympic athletes, recorded at the European Para Powerlifting Championship, are memorable for the Republic of Moldova – all athletes from our country’s delegation won medals.
Participation in the competition was made possible by the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Research, and the athletes and coaches will benefit from monetary prizes offered to the Ministry during the Sports Gala, traditionally organized at the end of the year.
