As part of its age policy and the fight against loss of autonomy, the City of Dijon (Côte-d’Or) is attentive to aging well and living better for its elders. For this, the city is launching » Dijon Sport Health“. The goal: encourage seniors to practice regular physical activity.
“Dijon sport health”, what is it?
As part of the actions to prevent the loss of autonomy of the elderly, the City of Dijon has been awarded a grant of 12,000 euros for the implementation of the “Dijon Sport Senior” system as part of a call for projects aimed at promoting access to sport for an isolated public with a loss of autonomy.
This action results in supervised physical activity sessions by an educator and intended for a senior public identified during social interviews. The regularity of the sessions as well as the collective practice thereof will aim to encourage seniors to continue physical activity and to supplementing social ties.
Sport to fight against isolation
Physical and sporting activity contributes both to maintaining a person’s autonomy, mobility, functional and cognitive abilities and toagainst isolationphysical inactivity or even psychological fragility.
The most isolated seniors directed by the social action department, who are not able to go independently to workshops or sports activities, benefit from a transport by minibus set up by CCAS. Participation in the sessions and transport are free of charge for the person. This system will complement the system to help pay sports dues for people over 60 years old.
