There are twice as few skeptics in Lithuania as in Europe: only 4 out of 100 view 5G negatively Business
“The large number of people who want to test the new technology is not surprising. The possibilities of the fifth generation, or 5G, technology have been talked about for a long time, so it is natural that people want it. 5G connection will come to places where there is no high-quality internet access today, and it will also become an alternative to all internet technologies provided by cables, fiber-optic internet”, says Eligijus Rakickas, product manager of Bitė Lietuva, in a press release.
There are fewer skeptics in Lithuania
Only 4 percent Lithuanians who know about 5G connection say that they have a negative assessment of 5G connection. Meanwhile, on a European scale, there are twice as many skeptics – even 10 percent. residents’ positive and negative evaluations of 5G, according to a study conducted by the European Association of Telecommunications Network Operators in 23 countries.
“The 5G communication technology has been accompanied by unfounded, sometimes even funny myths for a long time, causing doubts or anxiety for some people. Now we can see that they have dispersed and the society evaluates 5G connection favorably – more than half of Lithuanian Internet users who know about 5G are waiting for the development of the technology in Lithuania and would like to try it”, E. Rakickas observes.
25-3 year olds are more positive. Residents of Vilnius who actively use the Internet on more than one device. These are the most active Internet users, for whom the Internet is not only a companion of everyday life, they are also the most demanding of Internet quality.
Technology confirms the fact that almost half (49%) say that when choosing a new phone, it is important for them that it supports 5G communication technology.
Only units don’t know 5G
Only 3 percent Lithuanians say they don’t know what 5G is, and even 7 out of 10 Lithuanians say they recognize the new technology. For the majority of Lithuanian residents, 5G is associated with speed – as many as 3 out of 5 respondents indicate it.
“Also, people associate 5G connection with innovation, modernity, new technology or next-generation Internet. It is a highly anticipated technology that will open up unprecedented opportunities, for example, in the fields of agriculture, healthcare and sustainable mobility,” says E. Rakickas.
The majority of Lithuanians who know 5G consider the technology an evolution of 4G technology – they are not mistaken, because the fifth generation mobile communication technology is a continuation of the fourth. In second place is the opinion that 5G is the next generation home internet.
3 out of 10 do not know the difference between 4G and 5G
Interestingly, it’s important that most people want to try 5G, with 3 in 10 internet users saying they don’t know the difference between 4G and 5G, and an even smaller proportion saying they don’t have enough information about the technology.
“Perhaps it is not necessary to delve too deeply into the technological subtleties, because after testing 5G you will feel a huge leap in quality,” says the product manager of Bitės.
The research on the Internet and 5G established by the house was carried out by order of “Bites” together with the “KOG Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences”.
