No tracks during the weekend between Essen and Antwerp Central (Essen)
During all weekends in October and during the weekend of 5 and 6 November, there are no trains between Essen and Antwerp Central. Rail network operator Infrabel will then carry out a number of important renovation works on that railway. NMBS/SNCB is installing replacement buses.
During these weekends, Infrabel is renewing the tracks and sleepers between Kapellen and Kalmthout. This is how it wants to maintain the safety and quality of the Belgian railway network. In addition, work is also being done on the rail and catenary works in Essen and near Antwerp-Luchtbal.
There will be no trains in either direction between Essen and Antwerp Central during the works. NMBS does use replacement buses. They stop at the stations of Essen, Wildert, Kalmthout, Kijkuit, Heide, Kapellen, Sint-Mariaburg, Ekeren, Antwerp-Noorderdokken, Antwerp-Luchtbal and Antwerp-Central.
Travelers use the replacement buses on presentation of a valid NMBS ticket. Just like on the train, ticket checks take place on the buses. Travelers will consult NM’s online travel planner. This takes into account the modified train service and shows the departure times of the replacement buses.
