DIJON: The screens of the adventure, it’s in a month
Vincent Rattez: (…) “The world in 2022 is like the bank. It looks fractured, drifting and battered; dizziness of an ever greater fragility. (…)
M-1 before the 31 edition of the Adventure Screens. And we can say that this festival is a great adventure that highlights the tremendous work of explorers traveling the Earth to show us the beauty of it. Yes, we show the beauty of this one but also and unfortunately to show us that our dear planet is suffering… without moderation.
Christine Martin
Deputy Mayor for Culture
“What these men and women who dare to leave have done to discover but also to make us discover the planet but also all the cultures and the men and women who populate it. Today everyone talks about a big turn. It won’t be like before and even if from now on we use all-out methods to ensure that global warming is less than what is predicted today, I’m afraid that the planet of tomorrow will not be that of yesterday. That being said, that doesn’t mean you have to sit back and wait for the worst to happen. That means that together we can dream, we can decide, we can implement choices that will ensure that the announced catastrophe is not as harsh, because we are there in our human existence, as harsh as we scientists predict us.
The teams that decide to go on an adventure across the globe, they do so for many reasons. They will be able to tell you why at some point we decide to drop what occupies us somewhere in the world to leave, go discover and bring us back incredible images…”
Vincent Rattez
General Delegate of La Guilde and the festival
“The world is in 2022 like the bank. It looks fractured, drifting and battered; dizziness of an ever greater fragility. This feeling intersects with a desire to discover the world sharpened by two years of sequestrating covid. Les Ecrans de l’aventure thus have the task of reconciling our emotions, with films, books and encounters that combine intact enthusiasm and current questions.
Inspiring women and men will be at the heart of the festival, with the particular joy of receiving Jean-Louis Etienne, a perpetual young man coming to share the news of the crazy Polar POD project, or Jean-Luc Van Den Heede, for a tribute to the one who is an immense French sailor before being an outstanding nautical competitor. If the sea and the arctic zones will thus be in the spotlight, the equatorial jungles, the Himalayas, individual exploits, scientific research and even the France of small roads will be part of a diversified program, designed as a bouquet rare plants. All of these images, stories and encounters are sieved for simplicity and honesty, which are at the heart of the ethics and the Adventure Screens project.
Let us always be more likely to dream with our eyes open and listen to the inspiring figures of our time. To better leave happy. »
Anthony of Suremain
Adventurer and director
“Watching this trailer I can’t help but think that we’re going to dream and marvel at this festival. “One day the idea came to me to promote France’s natural heritage to children. I realized that it’s a heritage that we don’t talk about enough. We talk a lot about integrated heritage, historical heritage, gastronomic heritage, but natural heritage is a bit the poor relation of this whole big family. So I put together a television program aimed at children to help them discover the most beautiful wonders of France’s natural heritage. My goal is to prove that the French natural heritage is rich. Rich in diversity, rich in exceptional landscapes. I want to show that you don’t need to go far to live magnificent adventures… On social networks we are sold a lot of “dream destinations” which are too superficial, whereas we have regions in France which must be put on screen…”
Yannick Paris
Patron
“The company I run is based in Dijon, it’s an SME. Before, I told myself that the role of patron was reserved for large structures, but I was offered a partnership that was quite accessible. I found it interesting because a company is a human adventure that you live with your collaborators and that you live yourself when you start. We have decided to embark on a process of registering objectives aimed at improving society through public procurement. »
François REBSAMEN
Mayor of Dijon, President of Dijon Métropole
“Passionately attached to the 7th art, the city of Dijon is happy to welcome, with its historical partner La Guilde, the 3rd edition of the international festival Les Ecrans de l’aventure. This unmissable event will once again transport the Dijon public to the four corners of the world, alongside daring adventurers and explorers, curious to discover other cultures, concerned about preserving the riches of our planet, listening other paths or ways of life.
Here we are in Tahiti with three disabled surfers, in Kyrgyzstan with a traveling astronomer, on the roads of France and Switzerland by canoe-bike or in a Central African forest with gorillas.
These documentaries, all of excellent quality, will be submitted to a jury interpreted by the Swiss Raphaël Domjan. eco-explorer and defender of solar energy, he will award several prizes, including that of the Golden Fleece for adventure film rewarding the best film of the year.
This year, the festival is spreading to four parts of the city to share the adventure beyond the Olympia and Darcy cinemas. Screenings will take place at the Théâtre de Fontaine d’Ouche, at the Port du Canal media library and at the Maison d’éducation populaire des Grésilles. The Screens also consume their neighborhood in the city center with workshops, meetings and dedications offered at the Comptoirs des colonies.
As they prepare for a scientific expedition in the Southern Ocean, Jean-Louis Etienne and Elsa Peny-Etienne do us the honor of coming to Dijon to present a photo exhibition on the gates of the Jardin Darcy. You will thus discover the next ecological vessel of this duo committed for a long time to the preservation of the polar regions, these outposts of climate change.
I wish you an excellent festival and the joy of sharing exemplary human adventures! »
