Due to low temperatures, Prague closed the town for refugees. They were transferred to another accommodation iRADIO
The Prague municipality closed the tent city for Ukrainian refugees in Troja. The reason is the falling temperatures. Refugees will continue to be cared for by the city’s Social Services Center Prague in the hostels in Florenc and Smíchov. Municipality spokesman Vít Hofman said. The 150-bed town opened in May and was supposed to be operational by September 30. A second small town was created later in Malešice, and in the summer both were merged into Troja.

“Originally, it was planned to operate until September 30, but in view of the coming autumn and the decreasing temperature in recent days, it was decided to close it early. New arrivals are accommodated in spare rooms in Florence and Síchov, which operate in the same mode as in Troja,” said Hofman.
All the people from the town have already been taken by bus to the new accommodation. Refugees who lost their right to accommodation and humanitarian benefits were accommodated in Troja. In Florence, 100 beds are prepared for them in a dormitory.

According to the spokesman, the number of people staying in the Troj tent city has been decreasing for a long time. “For a few weeks, it was used by dozens of people, an order of magnitude lower. Just before the tent city closed, there were 13 people here. At the moment, three people are staying in the accommodation facility in Florence, and 28 people are staying overnight before the next trip. 13 people are accommodated in the “waiting room” mode at KACPU,“ Hoffman added.
KACPU has processed 109,116 Ukrainian refugees since the beginning of the war in February this year. KACPU will be closed on Wednesday, September 28 for a public holiday.
