Hana Blažíková as Lilium among the thorns
The Collegium Marianum ensemble led by Jana Semerádová lives up to its name with a new recording dominated by the voice of Hana Blažíková and the Marian songs of Adam Michny from Otradovice.
Album Lilium among thorns was released on Friday, September 23 by Supraphon. Soprano Hana Blažíková he dedicates himself to the songs of the Czech Baroque music composer and important poet Adam Václav Michné from Otradovice, whose work he has been related to since childhood. The recording is dominated by a selection of songs from the second section of Michna’s influential collection Czech Marian musicpublished in 1647.
Hana Blažíková is accompanied by an ensemble Collegium Marianum conducted by a flautist Jana Semerádová. In some songs, her brother, a violinist and a tenor, sings with Blažíková Vojtěch Semerád. After all, the singer’s husband, a theorbist, is also a member of the ensemble Jan Krejča. So it’s really a family occupation.
In order for the baroque ensemble to be able to express itself independently, Michna’s songs are also complemented on the album by instrumental compositions by By Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger, Heinrich Ignaz Biber, Vincenzo Albrici or Samuel Capricorn. The motet is also heard right at the beginning of the recording Hail Mary Stella composed by a contemporary of Monteverdi Alessandro Grandi.
Martina Klausová’s article from last week is also devoted to the new album.
