Prague 2 is a stronghold of the ODS. Since 1994, no other mayor has ruled here. Outside the ODS, Petr Brodský from the ODA was the last official herewho was replaced in 1994 by Libor Krátký (ODS).
The current Ministry of Defense was the mayor here for the longest time Jana Černochová (ODS), in the years 2006 to 2010, and subsequently from 2012 to 2021, after her entry into the ministry, she took over the office as mayor Alexandra Uzheniya (ODS). He will continue as mayor.
In 2018, the ODS won the elections in Prague 2 with 32.3 percent of the vote and 13 mandates. The Pirates finished second with a gain of 19.4 percent and seven mandates, and the coalition of the People’s Party, the Greens, the ČSSD and independents came third with 11.4 percent of the vote and four seats. The coalition was formed by ODS, TOP 09, OSB and ANO. Together they had 22 seats in the 35-member council.
A renewed coalition
The current management decided to continue the divided work. As reported by Uzheniya on Twitter, a coalition agreement was signed on Tuesday at the Prague 2 town hall – the ODS coalition and TOP 09 will also cooperate with ANO in this election period. Together, they will have 18 mandates, which is a narrow majority in the 35-member council. “I am convinced that continuity in management is the best decision,” said Udzheniya.
“Things are still fine at number two. We don’t fight, we don’t get bitter and we want to work together again as soon as possible. A few moments ago, we concluded a coalition agreement in the current composition of the past four years. Your votes showed us that you are not indifferent to our joint work,” the ANO movement from Prague 2 said on Facebook.
Prague 2 Sobě, which finished second, will also end up in the opposition, as will SPD and STAN.
