Toulouse: they are mobilizing against the East Junction interchange project
A stone’s throw from the Cité de l’Espace, in eastern Toulouse, the inhabitants of rue Maurice Hurel mobilized against the construction of an interchange this Sunday morning.
For the second consecutive Sunday, the inhabitants of the area around rue Maurice Hurel, mobilized to say “no” to the project to build a new interchange, between exit n°17 and exit n°18. Through this action, the members of the “NON à la Jonction Est” collective wish to inform as many local residents as possible of the existence of this project. “The town hall has opened a notice of public consultation and we have it until September 30 to decide. It is essential to express oneself and participate in order to defend our quality of life and our green spaces”, explains Marc Le Calloch, co-founder of the collective.
The inhabitants of Limayrac, La Terrasse, Hers and Côté Pavée “will be well served to take the ring road and do not want an influx of traffic with the arrival of this new interchange. In addition, this will damage the green spaces that benefit everyone since this project provides for a footprint of 20 hectares. “Presented on the site, Claire de Besses, president of the districts of Hers, denounces this project “for reasons of the living environment but also as a taxpayer. We tell ourselves that putting all this money into projects that are completely focused on the past should no longer be thought of and retained by our elected officials.
For the moment, the public consultation would have collected 150 opinions, “90% against”. The file can be consulted at: www.toulouse-metropole.fr/projets/jonction-est
