Prague – The Pirates want to negotiate a coalition in Prague on the ground plan of the government’s Together (ODS, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL) and STAN, to which they intend to add the Praha Sobě movement. Acting Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) said this to ČTK and Czech Radio today. The Pirates announced their intention at today’s afternoon meeting between STAN and Prague Sob. They have not yet discussed it with Spolu, the parties will meet on Monday. The coalition Spolu (ODS, TOP 09 and KDU-ČSL) won the municipal elections in the capital ahead of ANO. Pirates led by outgoing mayor Zdenek Hřibe finished third, Praha Sobě finished fourth, STAN fifth and SPD sixth.
The Pirates met today with the representatives of STAN and Prahy Sobě, with whom they dealt with, according to Hřiba, the results of the elections, among other things, but also the new representative club of the Pirates met.
“The consensus within our club, that is, what the Pirates want is that we want to continue the record-breaking development of the city, as we have started it during this election period, with the fact that we want to create a broad coalition of democratic parties. This means not only ten government lands, but including Prague to itself. And so that competent and honest people sit in the (city) council, who will have Prague full-time,” said Hřib.
So far, only Prague Sob and STAN have presented the Pirates proposal. “I think that none of the meeting participants was against this,” said Hřib. Together, the Pirates will meet the mayor on Monday, probably in the afternoon.
The leader of Prague Sobě and the mayor of Prague 7, Jan Čižinský, told ČTK after the afternoon meeting that no concrete agreement had yet been reached at the meeting. “There was no progress in negotiations, but we are certainly ready to continue negotiations,” said Čižinský. He ruled out the cooperation of Prague Sobě with ANO and SPD.
The leader of the Spolu coalition, member of parliament and former mayor Bohuslav Svoboda (ODS) told ČTK today that Spolu wants to act on the basis of government cooperation, i.e. with the Pirates and STAN. The Spolu negotiating team is to meet with representatives of the mayors this evening. The meeting will be preceded by the establishment of a representative club and the appointment of a negotiating team.
The coalition Together for Prague won the municipal elections in Prague this year, winning 19 mandates in the council, which has 65 members. ANO ended second with 14 mandates. The third Pirates will have 13 representatives. Čtvrtá Praha Sobě has 11 mandates, five representatives will have STAN in fifth place. The sixth is the SPD with three mandates. 43.91 percent of voters took advantage of the election.
