The number of divorces in Prague has been steadily decreasing for the fifth year. Moreover, in the last ten years there have not been as few divorces in the metropolis as there are now.
Even so, a total of 2,404 marriages were definitively invalidated in Prague in 2021. This follows from the data they have now published Czech Statistical Office.
The persistent divorce rate is also visible in other parts of the country, but it must be noted that it is most noticeable in the metropolis. In general, it can be said that the divorce rate is much higher in industrial regions such as the capital, the Ústí Region and the Moravian-Silesian Region, as well as in larger cities. Far less people get divorced in regions with smaller settlements and in agricultural areas.
They have burned themselves several times
People are often unteachable, so it happens that someone does not put their head in the clamp correctly even on the umpteenth attempt. 29 men and 40 women from Prague who divorced for the third or more times in their lives during the monitored period could talk about it. However, for the vast majority of divorcees, this is their first divorce in their life.
Life keeps speeding up
According to statistics, 77 marriages in Prague could be convinced of this. Their coexistence basically ended before they could really get to know each other. This couple did not even celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
The second sap only after twenty years
Surprisingly, people in the capital divorce most often after more than twenty years of cohabitation. In this respect, Prague is an absolute phenomenon compared to the rest of the country. Last year, 575 marriages of more than 20 years ended in divorce. The second largest group to divorce are people who have lived together for five to nine years. Last year, 557 of them ended in divorce in the metropolis.
Childless marriages are most often divorced in Prague. This happened in 1019 cases. 78 marriages with three or more dependent children also ended at the divorce court.
It’s never too late for a new life
Men most often divorce between the ages of 40-44, and the average age of a divorcing man is 46.1 years. However, in 2021, five men over the age of 80 also left the divorce court in the metropolis with a feeling of renewed freedom.
Women most often divorce in the same age category, but the average age of a divorced woman is three years lower in Prague. The age record holder was an over 80-year-old woman who left the court with a stamp: Divorced.
