New mobilization against the East junction project in Toulouse

This Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., he is organizing a rally at the end of rue Maurice Hurel, on the site of the future ring road interchange which he opposes. A similar rally had taken place in July.
This East junction project in Toulouse, of which the work should take place between 2024 and 2028indeed consists of creation of a new interchange between exits 17 and 18 of the ring road, near the Cité de l’Espace. A structure with two bridges, like the one at exit 16 Balma-Gramont. The Toulouse ring road will also be widened to 2×4 lanes between these two exits. Finally, on rue Maurice Hurel, the ring road will be adapted to Toulouse with the construction of a 2×2 lane road, not far from the Croix du Sud clinic in Quint-Fonsegrives.
The eastern junction of Toulouse, a project “from another century” according to its opponents
This junction project is at the origin of the ire of the inhabitants of the neighboring districts of Toulouse (Bonhoure, Guilheméry, Château de l’Hers, Limayrac, Côté-Pavée, Pont des Demoiselles, Montaudran, La Terrasse). They reunited in April as a collective.
The collective qualifies the project ” anachronistic, destroying the quality of life of the inhabitants, useless and reserved », dating “ from another century : mentioned for the first time in 1982 ». He denounces a cost of 80 million euros which could ” corresponding, for example, to the financing of more than 300 km of cycle paths “. But also many nuisances, including pollution, as well as an impact on nearby leisure areas: parks and infrastructure.
