Despite the ideological differences, the Croatian head of state also stands by Hungary

On Wednesday, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic criticized the European Commission’s proposal to suspend part of the funds intended for Hungary.
Parents should expect more and more pocket money
According to the coverage of Croatian public television (HRT), Milanovic stated that he will fight to prevent money from being taken from Hungary for “ideological reasons”. He called the EU executive “Brussels brainiacs”.
“This is a disaster, I will be the first to fight so that this cannot be done to Hungary,” he said.
As he said, one should never get tired of objective criticism if Prime Minister Viktor Orbán “does something wrong in certain cases”. “But to take two-thirds of his money? What’s the next step, push it to Russia?” he asked the question.
Milanovic attended a business conference in Zagreb, and later spoke to the press about current affairs, including the Croatian oil company INA, whose majority owner is Mol Nyrt.
“These are delicate relations, but we knew this from the beginning, so we must strive to create a good company and not measure the relationship with the neighboring country,” he said.
The former social democratic politician emphasized that he maintains a good relationship with Hungarian politicians, even though they are ideologically different.
