In the Appia Antica Park music and archeology with ‘Roma Unplugged Festival’
ROME – It doesn’t happen every day to experience magic in magic. In Rome it happens, for example, when music meets archeology. In the 4,500 hectares of the wonderful Appia Antica Park, along the path of the Regina Viarum, in the Villa of Maxentius and in that of the Quintili, from 23 to 25 September the spotlight will be on Roma Unplugged Festival, three days of concerts, debates, guided tours and a live at dawn.
The show according to nature
At its first edition, the event entitled ‘The show according to nature’ is organized by ETICAARTE, Doc Network and National Singers; in collaboration with Lazio Region, Appia Antica Archaeological Park, Rome Culture, Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage, Zètema Culture Project and Play2Give; made with Patronage of the Ministry of Culture, Appia Antica Regional Park, Municipality VIII, Italia Nostra, the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE), Rome Cultura Libraries and with the technical contribution of Doc Services.
The program of the Roma Unplugged Festival
Let’s start Friday 23 September with Vinicio Capossela that at 21.00 will present “Quo Vadis Homine”: A concert and a reflection on the direction of humanity in these difficult times. Saturday 24 from 17.00 will start a traveling concert from Villa di Maxenzio to Villa dei Quintili between archeology, jazz and funk. A 4 km musical journey to discover the treasures of the Appian Way with the P-Funking Group and a group of park archaeologists. At 21.00 the special concert of Gegè Telesforo who will be staged with Daniela Spalletta and four outstanding musicians: Domenico Sanna on piano, Michele Santoleri on drums, Pietro Pancella on bass and Christian Mascetta on guitar.
Sunday opens with the dawn concert by Trilok Gurtu, the appointment at 7 am will see Gurtu (one of the greatest innovators of percussive art of all time) with the completely revisited classic string trio by Arkè String Trio. Roma Unplugged Festival continues in the afternoon with the free talk at 6.30 pm ‘Italia Nostra meets Ascanio Celestini’, dedicated to the care of the cultural heritage and directed by the Director of the Appia Antica Archaeological Park Simone Quilici. The curtain closes at 9 pm with the concert of Maria Pia De Vito, Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello. In the repertoire the musicians will range from jazz to great independent songwriting, passing through ballads of intense lyricism.
Roma Unplugged Festival is on the European Heritage Days calendar
Roma Unplugged Festival is an event designed and desired to respect the exceptional place that hosts it, which is why the organizers have titled this edition number 1: ‘The show according to nature’.
