God’s voice is coming back. Troy at RockOpera Prague will be completed by soprano Eva Urbanová
RockOpera Prague will once again perform the epic opera Troja. With the reprise, which takes place on September 29, the audience can also look forward to the opera singer Eva Urbanová.
“Although Eva Urbanová regularly appears on our recordings, unfortunately she cannot play in every rerun due to her busy schedule. Considering that Troy is usually performed only once per season, the appearance of the first lady of the Czech opera scene in our performance is always a big event.” says the artistic director of RockOpera Prague, composer and keyboardist Milan Steigerwald.
Eva Urbanová will portray Artemis, the goddess of hunting, in the rock opera Troy. The performance culminates in her duet with the theater’s executive director, singer and librettist Pavla Forest in the song Trója bajná.
“The explosive chorus represents the voice of God, in this case the voice of Eva Urbanová. Eva is a real goddess, because such a soprano is not born just like that. I sing the role of the fortune teller Kassandra, who constantly warned everyone, but no one believed her” said Forest some time ago for the website RockOpera.cz.
In September, the theater’s new season began, riding on the wave of the RockOpera Europe 2022 festival. The theater organized it in connection with this year’s presidency of the Czech Republic in the Council of the European Union. Each performance will be visited by special international guests, on September 29th they will be Irishman Conall Long and Martin Harynda from Bloodstream Radio Liverpool.
With this event, RockOpera Prague also wants to openly support war-torn Ukraine. “It’s scary how obvious the parallel is with the war dramas we’re adapting and the current political events in the East,” said Pavla Forest.
Troy is a rock opera about the world’s most famous war conflict, which arose because of a beautiful woman. With the opera, the theater expanded its so-called Ancient Series, which also includes Antigone, Oidpus Tyranus and 7 against Thebes.
