Sports afternoon dominated Břevnov | PRAGUE 6 | News
Union unites. This is the motto of the newly established football club in Prague 6. On the occasion of the club’s second anniversary, a sports and social event took place on Sunday, September 18, which was created in support of the Prague 6 district.
“We already have the third event, i.e. the second anniversary of the Union Břevnov, which is a group of Břevnov clubs, for which the city district first secured this land in the capital, helped to demolish the local ruins here, and has even currently acquired the land under its administration and will work on it. so that facilities for the club can grow here. Currently, in this sense, she has also signed a memorandum together with the club, where both parties have pledged to monitor this land, so that a club can be established here, so that it can prosper here, so that the youth can train here,” says Jakub Starek, Deputy Mayor of Prague 6.
Union Břevnov was created from two defunct Břevnov clubs, which were active in this place for many years and enjoyed the favor of many generations. Seven dozen children aged 6-12 are currently training under the banner of SK Union Břevnov, almost a third are girls.
“Here around us there are clubs that are relatively established, they have a lot of kids. But what sets us apart is that we don’t play competitive matches yet. This means that our kids here basically play for fun and we don’t expect them to they had to take the weekends off to train, for example, three or four times a week. It’s just that they come here once or twice a week and play football for fun,” says Michal Chylík, chairman of SK Union Břevnov.
“I welcome and support every such child. On the one hand, for personal reasons, and on the other hand, because I consider sport to be an extremely important thing for children. They don’t exercise much, we all know that. The covid period, that made their reluctance to exercise even stronger. And today , whatever happens, it’s great,” adds Jiří Růžička, senator.
Prague 6 City Hall also supports the School Coaches project, where professional coaches visit local schools and lead children to various sports.
