There Schönbrunn Palace with its park it constituted the summer residence of the Habsburgs and is considered one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in Europe. Property of the Habsburgs since 1569, the wife of Ferdinand II, Eleonora Gonzaga, he had a noble residence built there in 1642. It was a hunting reserve of Maximilian II, a small castle with Eleonora Gonzaga; after 1743, with Maria Theresa of Austriathe Palace assumed its present aspect.
Today the Schönbrunn Palace counts 1,441 rooms, but only forty-five can be visited. Among the most beautiful, the Hall of Mirrors, where little Mozart played at the age of six; the Great Gallery, where the Congress of Vienna of 1814-1815 was held; the Hall of Ceremonies and the Blue Chinese Hall, where Emperor Charles I signed his act of renunciation of government in 1918; the Vieux-Laque room in which Napoleon conferred, and finally the House of millionscovered in rosewood and decorated with precious miniatures, it is among the most beautiful Rococo rooms in the world.
In the Schönbrunn Palace Park you will find the Palm greenhousecommissioned in 1882 byemperor Francesco Giuseppe. This is the palm greenhouse largest in Europe, 111 meters long, with 2,500 square meters of land and 4,900 square meters of glazed surface. Inside there are, divided into three pavilions, Mediterranean, tropical and subtropical plants, according to the different climatic zones. There are therefore plants from the Canaries, South Africa, America and Australia; plants from China, Japan, the Himalayas and New Zealand, and plants from the tropics. Here you can also see a palm tree about 23 meters high and between spring and summer even the largest water lily in the world.

In 1747 Maria Theresa of Austria made a kind of central warehousecalled Court Furniture Inspectorate, which could be used whenever a particular piece of furniture was needed. Fifteen Biedermeier rooms are reconstructed in every detail with original vintage pieces and among the furniture on display there is a precious Maria Theresa desk and a secrétaire of her daughter Marie Antoinette, as well as the cradle that the city of Vienna gave to the newborn Crown Prince Rodolfo in 1858. A section is dedicated to awarded Thonet company, with a wide selection of pieces, and another section offers an overview of the great names of Austrian architecture and design between the 19th and 20th centuries. The permanent exhibition Sissi in the cinema finally presents reconstructions of environments and costumes based on movies with Romy Schneider dedicate everything ‘empress Sissi. A dream for fans of the 1950s trilogy that tells the story of the young empress. Also present scene photos, posters and video excerpts.
