Fognbuar must jump from the 40-year crisis in Copenhagen
Håvard Østhus and Trond Arne Borgemyr from Fogn travel to Copenhagen next weekend to run the half marathon.
FOGN: – This is a result of the 40-year crisis, both will be 40 this year. I had decided to achieve some jumping goals before I turned 40, but I have achieved them all.
Therefore, the goal in Copenhagen will be to beat the family record for the half-marathon, which never has a time, twenty-seven minutes and thirty seconds. It is not at all certain that I will make it, but the goal is to try anyway, says Håvard Østhus to Øyposten.
He has a personal record for the distance with a time of 1.29.15, and has taken part in a half-marathon previously.
– It’s less than two minutes away from the record?
– Yes, but it’s pig’s tongue to the minute, he replies.
Can discuss sneakers all evening
It is only in recent years that Håvard Østhus has really developed a taste for jumping. He has always been active in sports, especially football, but now it is like jumping that is emerging as the big thing.
– It is quite nice how it has turned out. Well, I can discuss sneakers all evening, and I think that’s normal. It must have something to do with age, he says.
For information, Øyposten can state that both Håvard Østhus and Trond Arne Borgemyr will be in Copenhagen with super-fast Nike Alphafly running shoes.
«These rocket ships are made for you to improve your personal records.» This is how Nike describes the shoe on its pages.
– What is so motivating about jumping mile after mile?
– Something happens in the body when it first «clicks». I know a good feeling when I jump. Especially quiet trips where I don’t think about times or records, preferably with a good book or a podcast on the island, says Håvard Østhus.
In deep water
Trond Arne Borgemyr, on the other hand, is quite new to the game. He started jumping around a year ago and has little experience with running. During that time, he has improved the lap time on the “Fogn Rundt” distance by more than 15 minutes.
– I know of a massive press from my comrades, smiles Borgemyr, who thinks he has now thrown himself into deep water.
– For the time being, reason is more than joy, which is the driving force for jumping. I have a sedentary job and four children at home, so the jogs have gradually become a welcome free minute in the weekday.
In addition, it is of course nice to notice that my form is getting better and that I am doing better. When I have now decided that I will participate in my first half marathon, it will be nice to be a part of it. And then I’m looking forward to a weekend together with my friends, says Trond Arne Borgemyr, who aims to finish under 1.40.
