What was Charles, the new King of England doing in Lyon on May 8, 2018?

If Queen Elizabeth II, who died this Friday, September 7, 2022 at the age of 96, did not visit Lyon, the royal family passed through the capital of Gaul. the Prince Charlesautomatically became New King of England after the death of his mother, came to the city with his wife Camilla in 2018.
The couple went to Lyon for the May 8 commemorations. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla commemorated the victory of May 8 in Lyon accompanied by the Minister of the Interior and former mayor of the city Gérard Colomb.
A first in Lyon: Tête d’Or park and official meetings
This visit was a first for Prince Charles. From the ceremonies of May 8, 1945 to tastings of local specialties, via Interpol and a school of agricultural engineers, the princely couple spent the day in Lyon.
The couple had completed a European tour which took them to France for a few days with the wedding of Harry and Meghan.
Charles first went to the Parc de la Tête d’Or, one of the most favorite meeting places of the Lyonnais, for the May 8 ceremonies. In the newspaper The Parisian which devoted a report on this exceptional royal visit, one could read that hundreds of curious people had massed at the entrance to the park. “He’s still the future king of England!” I admire him a lot, ”confided a young woman.
Sausage, charcuterie and charity
Prince Charles and Camilla then went to the Halles Paul Bocuse, a Mecca for Lyonnais gastronomy, in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon. The Prince and Duchess mingled with the crowd tasting charcuterie, wine and pastries. They also posed for photos, with ease.
The Prince of Wales also went to the Interpol headquarters near the Tête d’Or park for a discussion on security and the fight against terrorism with Gérard Collomb, then Minister of the Interior.
The Duchess of Cornwall had paid part of the trip to good works by going to the Viffil-SOS Women association, which accommodates women victims of domestic violence, then to Vénissieux at Emmaüs.
