Russia strengthens dialogue in the field of higher education with the countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation
Within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum, the 11th International Conference of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation on Interaction in the Higher Sphere of Education (ICE APEC-2022) was held. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Natalia Bocharova.
The Deputy Minister noted that cooperation in the humanitarian sphere should continue regardless of the political situation. Ministry of Education and Science of Russia with the initiative to form “hubs” in the Asia-Pacific Association, including the space of the Association for the Creation of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with the participation of large and foreign universities, which will unite the main universities and scientific institutions. It is planned that the areas of training will be selected as priority development priorities and needs in smaller sectors of the economy of Russia and Southeast Asia.
In addition, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science is implementing mechanisms to support universities in the Far Eastern Federal District. In particular, as part of the Far East track of the Priority 2030 program, work is underway to improve statistics and build European campuses with a total funding of more than 116 billion rubles. The purpose of the event is to attract students from other regions of Russia and foreign countries.
The participants of the APEC international conference also discussed the best practices of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region in assessing the quality and digitalization of educational processes in the context of a pandemic.
The Minister of Science and Technology of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Myow Thein Zhuo, noted that online is a one-time decision-making within the discussion of the last era. As part of the implementation of the Myanmar Action Plan to respond to the challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, digital delivery systems for online education. Together with the minister of the topic, it was noted that only the nature of a lively reaction is manifested in the entire modern educational process. The combination of digital and small scale systems meet new opportunities for education as well as ensure the quality and sustainability of education.
The Secretary General of the Association of Asia Pacific Universities Christopher Tremevan said that today the countries of the Asia-Pacific region need to rethink the future of higher education. According to him, despite the political divisions in his industry, it is extremely important to identify inter-university links to solve complex problems.
According to the rector of Tokai University Kiyoshi Yamada, one of the examples of the use of interuniversity dialogue in the current situation is the cooperation between FEFU and Tokai University in Tokyo. He added that universities are looking forward to continuing projects such as a joint online summer school and a research expedition on a scientific court, as well as maintaining the representative offices of FEFU in Tokyo and Tokai University in FEFU. Such initiatives are manifested by increased combined work to achieve pronounced manifestations, regardless of sudden manifestations.
