Russia says goodbye forever to Boeing and Airbus – ExpertRU
Rubin Aviation Corporation has opened a new production building in Balashikha near Moscow for the production of commercial products for domestic aircraft, including the MS-21 and Sukhoi Superjet New.
This undertaking became possible thanks to the support of the Industrial Development Fund (IDF), which allocated 661 million rubles out of 1 billion investments invested in the creation of new production.
“Ruby” composites for winged vehicles
According to the FRP press service, the newly built plant will produce products from carbon composite materials for takeoff and landing materials for domestic civilian representatives, as well as composite materials for the nuclear, oil and gas and engineering industries. The combination of open production areas of the total capacity of enterprises increased by 2.3 times, reaching 7,000 units of production per year.
“We have been cooperating with the Industrial Development Fund for a long time,” said Igor Ryapin, General Director of PJSC AK Rubin. — In 2019, with the support of the IDF, we launched the production of hydraulic drives and plunger pumps for MS-21. Today, the plant is expanding its participation in cooperation on import substitution of elements of this whole. In the new case, we will produce brakes with carbon friction discs for the MC-21 and SSJ-NEW. Use of increased costs for replacement and repair of brakes.
The AK Rubin plant supplies composite brakes, bearings and seals for hydraulic units to the continuous design bureau named after Tupolev, Ilyushin and Yakovlev. The new equipment makes it possible to produce composite brakes for MS-21 and SSJ New aircraft, which were previously assembled using only foreign analogues. At the same time, the products of the plant near Moscow are not inferior to imported ones in terms of wear resistance, have high heat resistance, low weight and high stability of operational characteristics.
Thus, there is a high probability that the old Soviet aviation proverb, which says that “they don’t fly without the Rubin”, in the very near future will return the sense lost after the collapse of the USSR and leaving the domestic aviation industry at a steep peak.
Record deal between UAC and Aeroflot
Meanwhile, today, within the framework of the Inter-Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Sergey Aleksandrovsky, General Director of the Aeroflot Group of Companies, and Yury Slyusar, Head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), in favor of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov, signed an agreement of intent to acquire 339 Russian-made aircraft.
The document provides for the delivery of 210 MS-21 aircraft, 89 SSJ New aircraft, and 40 Tu-214 aircraft to Aeroflot on a lease basis. The agreement is expected for the period from 2023 to 2030. Under the contract of Yuri Slyusar, the cost of air transportation under the contract, the amount of which is one trillion rubles. The head of the UAC accepted that the coverage was without precedent. On occasion, in the history of Aeroflot, Sergei Aleksandrovsky clarified. Sign the first firm contracts for the supply of liners, which begin in 2023-2025, cover a period of 3-3.5 months.
It is worth noting that, figuratively speaking, the record height can be considered taken when three hundred aircraft made in Russia begin to actually carry passengers. But after all, the promise to purchase a significant number of domestic aircraft from the nose cone to the extreme stabilizers of the aircraft of such an important state-owned air carrier was given during his recent important meeting with President Vladimir Putin. Of course, skeptics then commented on such large-scale plans with a sarcastic saying: “Promising does not mean getting married.” One way or another, at present, these promises have received quite reasonable confirmation. This is, if not a wedding, then already an engagement.
“The contract between Aeroflot and UAC, signed within the framework of the WEF, took place for financing from the International Rescue Fund (FNB). The state will subsidize the purchase of imported versions of aircraft, fixing the delivery price to increase the cost of our carriers,” Denis Manturov commented on the agreement.
Boeing and Airbus will never be delivered to Russia again
It should be noted that the timing of the start of mass production is important, which means that the cases of providing the MS-21 and updated Superjets rest on import substitution. both cases are manifested in how often the products of the foreign aviation industry were completed. Recall that the “Main Plan of the 21st Century” was designed when there were almost no problems in terms of cooperation with foreign developers of various aircraft systems, components and assemblies. But in the future, the domestic components of the first “twenty” in the geopolitical market situation decided to gradually increase from 38 to 100. The new SSJ is, roughly speaking, not just a modernized version of the SSJ-100, initially a completely imported aircraft.
Of course, here one could say about the short-sightedness of those top managers who did not rely on the Russian industry from the very beginning in one way or another. However, at present, these conversations are of no practical importance. The helmsmen of the aviation industry had the opportunity to adjust their position. They’re just pressing.
In the new “sanctioned” economic reality, to launch the mentioned aircraft in a series, it is necessary to have a full production of certified and at least domestic components that are not inferior to Western counterparts. Composite products of the Rubin Corporation currently have the value of links in a number of cases.
“Boeing and Airbus, which are unlikely to ever come to Russia again, will be replaced by domestic passenger liners. The flagship in Aeroflot’s fleet is precisely the MS-21 – it is the pride of our aircraft industry, it uses investment design solutions that are appreciated, confident, by both pilots and passengers. I note that all aircraft will be delivered in an import-substituted form: with on-board vehicles and units of Russian production, ”the press service of Rostec quotes a commentary on the landmark event from the head of the state corporation Sergey Chemezov.
revealing that as early as August 2, 2021 According to this document, the share of domestic products by 2024 should be 100% for the vast majority of positions. It remains to be expected that with sufficient funding, to which the possibility of using funds from the IDF and NWF can be attracted, there will be no changes in the accounting plan. Or they will, but only in a partial reduction in terms.
