Russia is rightly proud of its system of school history education
At the Eastern Economic Forum, Chairman of the Russian Historical Society (RIO), Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin made a video message on the importance of school history education. The conference was devoted to the peculiarities of teaching history in the countries of the East – significant centers of the multipolar world.
– When choosing this topic, we proceeded from the fact that historical education at school is a connecting thread that transmits social experience from generation to generation, a key tool for the formation of citizenship,
– said Naryshkin.
In his opinion, the presence in the country of its own educational system based on traditional and methodological approaches has always been considered as a significant criterion of sovereignty. At the same time, Naryshkin helps, knowledge of the past presence of a dialogue of cultures and civilizations, considers trust in interstate relations possible.
– Russia is rightfully proud of its system of school history education and is always open to professional dialogue in this area,
– added the chairman of RIO.
He is also sure that the current discussion contributes to understanding the experience of teaching history, accumulated by the countries of the East.
Meanwhile, at the EEF-2022, an exhibition dedicated to the teaching of history in the school of the countries of the East and organized by the Russian Historical Society has opened. The stand provides information about the development of the history teaching system in schools of each country and its individual states. The exhibition is based on expert interviews with professional historians.
