Nazi symbols smeared on the information column in the Hufeisensiedlung
According to the residents’ initiative Hufeisern gegen Rechts, the initiative’s information column was smeared with a right-wing drone over the weekend. Accordingly, a swastika had been smeared on the column, along with the slogan “We are everywhere” and SS and SA runes.
According to the residents, the affected poster has now been cleaned. In the past few weeks, residents have also increasingly removed swastikas, Celtic crosses and other Nazi symbols from garbage cans, postal distribution boxes and similar objects around the settlement.
The neo-Nazi party “Der III. Weg”, in which one of the two main suspects of the right-wing extremist Neukölln attack series is active, is said to have distributed leaflets throughout the settlement at least twice in the past few months.
However, the graffiti on the information column is “the first openly expressed threat based on a text” in three years. The initiative “Horsesies Against the Right” is active around the settlement against racism, right-wing extremism and for tolerance. Among other things, they organize a commemoration of a victim of National Socialism.
The south of the Neukölln district is considered a particular focus of right-wing extremists in Berlin. A committee of inquiry in the House of Representatives is currently dealing with the lack of successful investigations into a series of right-wing extremist crimes in Neukölln. At the same time, two well-known neo-Nazis are on trial for two arson attacks and right-wing graffiti. Recently, especially in the Hufeisensiedlung, there have been repeated arson attacks, in which the police do not rule out a right-wing background, at least in part.
