He withdrew more than HUF 150,000 from a bank card found in Debrecen
The Debrecen Public Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against the man who withdrew more than HUF 150,000 in cash from various ATMs with the help of a bank card found in a bag found on the street and the associated PIN code for attempting to commit a business-like fraud by using an information system, causing greater damage. – said the prosecutor’s office. On June 17, 2021, the victim was riding a bicycle in Debrecen in the early morning hours, hanging his bag on the handlebars of his bicycle. However, he lost the bag in downtown Debrecen. After a short time, the defendant who found it walked by on foot, then looked through the contents of the bag and took the offending bank card with the associated identification code.
After that, the man went to a nearby ATM, from which he illegally withdrew HUF 15,000 in cash after several attempts.
On the same day, the defendant tried to withdraw larger amounts of cash from the machines of other banks, but they were unsuccessful, as the victim had blocked his bank card in the meantime. The accused tried to withdraw HUF 511,000 by unauthorized use of the bank card, but most of them were unsuccessful. The investigation in the case was conducted by the Debrecen Police Department.
The district prosecutor’s office proposed in the indictment that the district court, based on the content of the documents, impose a sentence of community service on the defendant who admitted to the legal offense without holding a trial.
