Elena Lenta, young dietician in Verduno, awarded in Vienna
VERDUNO Elena Lenta, dietician of the complex structure of Clinical Nutrition of the Ferrero hospital, received the award on Sunday 4 September in Vienna Travel award, reserved for the prize for the scientific society and reserved for the most important field in Europe – for researchers under 35 from EU states. Among the over 900 summarized presented, on the occasion of the Annual Congress, held in the Austrian capital from 3 to 6 September, the work of the health care service in Verduno won the award of the “best study carried out by a young Italian researcher”.
The researcher is focused on the analysis of the food literacy of employees in the context of activities related to the Abcibi project, launched at Ferrero in 2021 with the support of the Alba-Bra non-profit hospital foundation to renew the collective catering service for patients and workers.
Dr Lenta explained: «Nutritional knowledge is the basis for the prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension and cancer. If this attention is important for the citizen, it still is important for those who work in a company whose principal raison d’etre it is health. The results of the survey that seem practical, in the face of a good knowledge of food, there is room for improvement on the practical aspects “
Explains the director of the complex structure of clinical nutrition of Ferrero, Cloe Dalla Costa: «The younger generations have talents, their unique enhancement is fundamental to create future professionals. The results of this research work have allowed numerous interventions: from food education courses to the refurbishment of the canteen, both in terms of food supply and in terms of graphic layout through the use of materials such as posters, playbills and panels that guide the dependent on the choice of the most correct meal ».
