The value of the lock is 19 crowns. “Those interested can purchase the new occasional postage stamp at counters or in the e-shop on the Czech Post website. It will also be available at the post offices in Vír and Žďár nad Sázavou,” announced the spokesman of the state-owned company Ivo Vysoudil.
Chudobínská pine grows on a rocky outcrop on the left bank of Vírská prěhrady. Experts estimate the age of the pine at three hundred and fifty years. The tree itself doesn’t change much anymore, unlike the tank level. At the maximum buoyancy of the reservoir, the root system of the pine tree is completely flooded with water, while at low water levels, on the contrary, the pine tree rises more than twenty meters above the level of the dam.
The most beautiful tree in Europe, the one near the Vírska reservoir, is 500 years old. He is older than expected
The tree became a frequent object of the works of visual artists and photographers. “We are very happy and very proud that this symbol of our region will be on a postage stamp. After all, it’s a way to make people aware of others,” remarked Vír mayor Ladislav Stalmach.
