The building of the Children’s and Youth Center in Stodůlky is undergoing extensive renovation. A new extension will be built here, where the central reception will be located and thus the security of DDM operations will be increased. The City Hall of Prague 13 started construction work at the beginning of the holiday season, and completion is expected during this fall. Lucie Steinerová, spokeswoman for the city district, informed about it.

“The houses have been providing a wide range of leisure activities for children and adults from Prague 13 for decades. Currently, there are three entrances to the building and it is practically impossible to monitor the movement of people in the building. The extension will be created by roofing the currently unused outdoor space, and the interior spaces will be modified so that children and adults can safely enter and leave the building through one entrance,” said Prague 13 Mayor David Vodrážka (ODS).
“The existing U-shaped building directly offers to use the free space between individual parts of the building. Demolition work took place, followed by the construction of a steel supporting structure and roofing. After laying out the external and internal spaces and wiring, we will complete the modifications and in October, children and adults will be able to enter the DDM on a comfortable and safe reception surface,” adds deputy mayor Marcela Plesníková (ANO).
“With the roofing and other modifications in the part between the existing yellow and green pavilions, a new foyer will be created, where parents waiting for their child will be able to relax or take care of their work matters. We also envisage the use of this vestibule to present the activities of the DDM Stodůlky and organize suitable occasional events, video projections, etc. Ensuring the safety of the participants in the context of the modification and modernization of the existing space will certainly contribute to the better comfort of all visitors to our-your owl’s nest – ddm100důlky,” added Jana Šimánková , director of DDM Stodůlka.
