Russia “restless” lack of US visas for participation in the UN General Assembly
None of the 56 Russian diplomats scheduled to take part in the debate has received an entry visa to the United States. Including the documents were not provided to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This was announced by the Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, writes Reuters.
“This is all the more alarming given that over the past months, several US governments have consistently refused entry visas to a number of Russian delegates that we send to official UN events,” Nebenzi said in an official letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
Nebenzia said contamination tests were filed with the US embassy in Moscow. According to a spokesman for the US mission to the UN, Bad Situations often reminded all countries that “applications should be submitted as early as possible” to allow time for them to be processed.
“This is especially important because of Russia’s unwarranted actions against the embassy, including the alleged build-up of staff, which severely limited our staffing and therefore the ability to process visas,” Reuters, on condition of anonymity of a US official.
Earlier, the United States failed to get into the head of the Russian Interior Ministry Vladimir Kolokoltsev – he not issued visa to attend the UN Chief of Police Summit in New York, which was held from August 30 to September 1.
- According to the “headquarters agreement” of the UN of 1947, the Aeration Report, as a rule, the official representation of the diplomatic corps at the UN event. But in Washington, you can refuse to issue visas on the basis of the combination of “security, terrorism and foreign policy.”
