For almost a year, the independent group The Edible Mushroom Orchestraa.k.a Tetoreveals son first album hairy tails at the rate of one song per month. He has just completed the operation in August by releasing his last a video with lyrics qualify for the title Phantom of my opera.
A small UFO of the Rouen scene, Teto mixes metal with many musical influences and a good dose of humor. The group defines its own style at the crossroads of the universes of System of a down, Tim Burton and… Shakira.
Joke and worked universe
There is a strong style behind this derision, with elaborate compositions and texts, as well as catchy riffs. “What’s cool about this project is that we mix a lot of stuff and we don’t have too many limits, assures Guillaume, who founded Teto in 2013. We all listen to metal, but not necessarily the same styles. . And over all very different influences in other styles of music. They range from French song to jazz, passing through classical, funk or even Caribbean music.
The universe of Teto, full of facetiousness, tinged with raw energy and groove, is a real challenge to embody for Antoine, the singer with the captivating voice, the latest to arrive in the formation alongside Guillaume and Giullano on guitar and de Clément on drums. “It took me a long time to get on their level,” he says humbly. We are not professionals, but there is a requirement. It allowed me to improve a lot. He had to switch from throat singing, which he uses in his other project Dry my tears, to clean singing. “I had to accept my voice! »
Upcoming concerts
The group developed its project on streaming platforms and networks during the health crisis. “20 years ago it would have been super frustrating not to be able to play in concert, because it was the biggest means of promotion, underlines Guillaume. Now with the internet we can make ourselves known and listen to people all over the world. »
Although their sons feed ears around the globe, the members are still eager to be able to find the stage and their fans, the Tetons (yes, yes, you read that right). “Live we are undermined, there is a color code”, describes Antoine. Teto takes on another dimension there. The next two dates announced are September 10 at Quincamp’Fest and December 17 at Rockeurs ont du cœur.
The group should also make a clip while waiting to find other scenes to perform. “Probably on the last song of the album”, indicates Guillaume. This title should give them a good playground.
