The officials of the Leușeni customs post discovered in the minibus of a Moldovan coming from the Russian Federation a batch of suits, badges and flags on which the symbols of Russian aggression in Ukraine were written. The perpetrator was exposed on the morning of September 3.
The articles were discovered in the minibus with which the compatriot travels.
“The officials of the Leușeni customs post subjected to specialized control a “Mercedes-Benz Sprinter” model minibus, traveling from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, the drivers to a national.
As a result of the customs control, a batch of camouflage suits and hats, flags, all with symbols prohibited in the Republic of Moldova and all undeclared to the customs body, was detected”, states the Customs Service.
All assets have therefore been seized and investigations are ongoing.
TV8.md recalls that on the territory of the Republic of Moldova the symbols “Z”, “V”, as well as the ribbon “St. Gheorghe”, which granted Russia over Ukraine. The Parliament voted, in two readings, a draft law in this regard.
Thus, it is prohibited to make, sell, possess, in order to spread, and use in public the attributes and symbols that are used in the context of actions of military aggression, war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as the propaganda or glorification of these actions.
The people who will break the law risk a fine from 4,500 to 9,000 lei, and the legal ones – from 9,00 to 18,000 lei.
The law was harshly criticized by opposition representatives. For example, the former president of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, is among the fiercest critics of the Law banning these symbols. He threatened her so that both he and tens of thousands of other people will come out on May 9 at the Victory March with the Saint George ribbon on their chests.
