The choice was made in June 2021 and it will now materialize this Saturday, September 3, 2022.
At 11 a.m., the the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, will baptize the passing street in front of the arcades of the Place du Capitole named after the former mayor of the Pink City, from 1983 to 2001, Dominique Baudis.
For several years, the signature “Dominique Baudis” has been affixed to the front wall of Toulouse Blagnac airport.
6533 days at the town hall of Toulouse
Like Gaston Deferre in Marseille, Jacques Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux or Pierre Mauroy in Lille, Dominique Baudis left a strong mark in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne).
And for good reason, he will have administered the city for 6,533 days. To date, it is the longest “reign” in Toulouse municipal history.
The metro, the Zenith…
During his mandates, he led the construction of the first metro line between Basso-Cambo and Jolimont.
We also owe him the transformation of the old slaughterhouses into a museum of contemporary art, the opening of the space City and the construction of the Zenith.
After having abandoned the political field to successively chair the Higher Audiovisual Council (CSA), the Arab World Institute (IMA) before becoming Defender of Rights, Dominique Baudis died on April 10, 2014 after having fought against the cancer.
He was going to be 67.
