Russia announces production of isotope products for Iraq
Director of the Department for the Middle East and North Africa of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Kinshchak, in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that Russia is ready to start deliveries of isotope products to Iraq. Russia also insists on the possibility of using Baghdad in the field of “non-energy nuclear energy.”
The Russian side also indicated its readiness to train Iraqi specialists in nuclear energy in specialized universities of the Russian Federation, informs RIA Novosti on Friday, September 2.
Kinshchak specified that Rosatom and the Iraqi Raw Materials Emission Control Agency had already begun “joint work on updating the bilateral regulatory framework and signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of atomic energy use.”
Russia, as noted by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, is ready to implement major projects with Iraq.
Back in 2021, the media published information that Russia would build nuclear reactors in Iraq. The project is approaching 2030.
On August 29, 2022, the Iraqi authorities brought the army to the streets of Baghdad to suppress the protests. As a result of the tragedy, at least 12 people died.
