With the arrival of Bolia.com, Lyon is infatuated with Scandinavian design –
Text: Morgan Couturier – Since July 7, the Danish brand specializing in design and furnishings has found refuge in rue Grolée, in the 2e district of Lyon. Installed on nearly 400m2, in place of the Courir boutique, Bolia.com hopes to win over local customers through its collections of major designers and the advertised quality of its products.
A good decoration depends on a few things, a few details, two or three adjustments, with the ultimate goal of this incessant quest for originality. A niche shared by Bolia.com, a Danish brand with a curious name, when it appears on the front of a new physical store. And yet, since July 7, 2022, the building at 5e rue Grolée is indeed adorned with a computer-sounding shop, inherited from a 100% digital design (in 2000, editor’s note). “It all started online,” confirms the firm developed by Lars Lyse Hansenwhich still offers today to “finalize its orders on the net”, for the benefit of a link generated in store.
A stone’s throw from the banks of the Rhône, the brand, considered as “a digital brand”, has nevertheless equipped itself with an imposing exhibition space, spread over two levels and 392m2. “Lyon is a very inspiring city of design. It was the priority of the year”, justifies the Danish firm, established in Aarhus, Denmark’s second city in terms of population. A real showroom, more than a store therefore, as long as everything is produced to order, with the exception of a few accessories, available for sale in store.
Items designed by global designers, but made to order
“The shop allows everyone to project themselves. It is not a closed catalog. Here, we push the creativity of the customer”, continues the director of Bolia.com, attesting to the installation of a “design workshop”, supposed to allow visitors to choose the color and especially the material of the desired product. Starting with the sofa (sold between €3,000 and €15,000 with an average delivery time of 6 to 8 weeks, editor’s note), the flagship of a brand for which “each small part can be deactivated independently”.
Capable of fitting out all the rooms in the house, the Bolia.com store in Lyon, run by Alex Djifetdjan, therefore offers an overview of the potential of the house. A popular sign made by its catalog of global designers, the guarantee of a certain originality. Strong of this argument, Bolia.com is brought to make its nest. Unlike the previous occupant, there is no point in running, for them, everything comes at the right time to who knows how to wait.
