Nearly two hundred and fifty will benefit from the scholarship of the New National Excellence Program at the University of Debrecen
Debrecen – The 241 successful projects submitted won almost 300 million forints in the tenders announced for this school year by the New National Excellence Program (ÚNKP).
The winning bachelor’s and master’s students, doctoral students, doctoral candidates, lecturers and researchers will receive a monthly scholarship of HUF 100,000, 150,000 or 200,000 for one or two semesters in the academic year 2022/23.
441 applicants from the University of Debrecen applied for the call published on April 29 this year, of which 438 were formally appropriate and valid. The professional evaluation of applications was carried out by the faculties in the case of undergraduate and master’s students, and by the doctoral councils and doctoral schools in the case of doctoral students, doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows.
In the gyógyit Bonyar+ category, those lecturers and researchers who also receive the János Bolyai Postdoctoral Scholarship in the following academic year receive ÚNKP support.
The “Up with talent!” category, those young people who will start their university studies in September 2022 and who were high school winners in national academic competitions or who received a scholarship in this category in the previous school year could apply. The Ministry of Culture and Innovation made the final decision on the entries submitted to the New National Excellence Program.
In addition to the scholarship of the winning applicants, the university receives an additional grant of 116 million forints, which can be used for research.
– In addition to the personal scholarships, the ministry also provides the university with an amount corresponding to forty percent of them. This can be used for the research of the scholarship recipients, as well as for the translation of the general costs of the higher education institution (research-related institutional operating and management costs, remuneration of supervisors). Thus, the university is also interested in implementing the program as successfully as possible, encouraging as many talented students and young instructors to achieve excellent performance – he told the hirek.unideb.hu portal Solt Varga scientific director, ÚNKP coordinator of the institution.
Useful information for the winners: in a legal sense, they become scholarship recipients if they prove their legal status as students (undergraduate, master’s, undivided, doctoral) or working by September 21, 2022 at the latest. The Scientific Directorate will personally notify each winner of the progress of the contract signing procedure.
