Vatican condemns Russia for actions in Ukraine after criticism of the Pope
Pope Francis considers the fighting that Russia is considering in Ukraine “senseless, disgusting and blasphemous.” So in the Vatican commented criticism of the Pontiff for his reaction in public statements to the quick interpretation of the normal in Ukraine.
How economy ABSNews, this is a case where the Holy See directly spoke out against Russia in connection with peace in Ukraine. Prior to this, the Pope had only called on the parties to cease fire and resolve the conflict by repeated methods.
Two days ago, Foreign Affairs published a column by Fiona Hill, adviser to former US President Donald Trump on Russia, and Angela Stent, professor at Georgetown University. In the publication, the authors reprove Francis that he is one of the “many US exports of Putin’s war on NATO and indirectly one of the meetings of the States and the collective collective West.” Hill and Stent also recalled how, in June 2022, the pontiff admitted that the Ukrainian conflict “may have been provoked in some way.”
Criticism of the pontiff was provoked by his statement by the pope about the death of a car bombing Daria Dugina – Russian publicist Alexander Dugin. Francis called her a “poor girl” and an “innocent victim” of the Ukrainian events. The Pope noted that both Ukrainian and Russian children die during the hostilities, and “orphanhood does not know nationality.”
The words of the pontiff caused a sharp scrutiny in Kyiv. Ukrainian Ambassador to the Vatican Andriy Yurash called them “disappointing”, and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that “the Ukrainian heart is breaking” from them, since it is “unfair” to express compassion for the arrival of Daria Dugina. The representative of the Holy See in Kyiv was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, where he intensified the “disappointment” with folders.
