If you are arachnophobic, go your way because this article may give you cold sweats. The reason ? A large exotic spider was discovered on Monday August 29 in a supermarket in Toulouse.
Monday August 29, a supermarket in Castelnau-d’Estrétefonds (Toulouse) made a strange discovery in one of its shipments of bananas: a huge exotic spider about ten centimeters was hiding among the yellow fruits, reports 20 Minutes .

An exotic spider that does not administer venom
As the news daily specifies, the arachnid made the trip from Ghana before landing in the south of France. Dispatched to the scene, the Haute-Garonne firefighters had to call on their unit specializing in animal risk (RAN) to dislodge the intruder.
Still according to the media, the spider would belong to the genus Heteropoda Venatoria, also known as the Babouk spider. You may not know it, but this species is found in banana plantations and secondary forests.

Originally from Asia, the Babouk was published in America, Africa and Australia. It also extends to Guadeloupe, Guyana, French Polynesia and Reunion Island.
Do not panic, it is not considered to be fatal for humans. However, its bite can be extremely painful, explains 20 Minutes .
For its part, the spider found in a supermarket checkout was taken care of by the specialized clinic of the National Veterinary School of Toulouse. Note that this is not the first time such a situation has occurred.
In 2015, another specimen was discovered in a package of bananas in Sallanches (Haute-Savoie).
