the musical renaissance in Florence
The sixth edition of the international festival «FloReMus. Musical Renaissance in Florence “, organized by the L’Homme Armé association, takes place in Renaissance locations in the city from Friday 30 August to Sunday 11 September 2022: it is the first festival entirely dedicated to music from the late fourteenth to the sixteenth century placed in the cradle of the Renaissance and can boast, unique in Tuscany, the important recognition of being welcomed in the REMA – Réseau Européen De Musique Ancienne network. Also this year the event is divided into Evening Concerts (9.15 pm), Concerts à boire (which end in aperitif time), Free admission conversations with the high dissemination cut (6 pm) and a free workshop open to all on the theme of the music of young people in the Renaissance (5.30 pm).
At the concerts at 9.15 pm, some of the best known and most sought after Europeans will be listened to: on Friday 2 September the Ensemble Cinquecento (Austria, but with elements from five European countries), with a program of sacred music for the English Reformed Church; Sunday 4th the instrumental ensemble Alta Bellezza (Switzerland) with music by Dufay and Renaissance dance; Tuesday 6 the Pratensis Chapel (Holland) presents the monumental Missa Maria zart; Thursday 8 La Fonte musica, an ensemble founded and directed by Michele Pasotti, in Enigma Fortuna. Sacred and secular music by Antonio Zacara from Teramo; Sunday 11th the historic Ensemble L’Homme Armé directed by Fabio Lombardo, made up of 10 performers, closes the review with Salva nos… Imaginary Liturgy of the End of the Century between Florence and Milan (music by Isaac and Weerbeke) as usual.
Concerts à boire instead propose young groups from various Italian regions, selected with a special call: «Tuscae voces» (Prato); “La Douce et Piquante” (Parma), “Baroque Lumina” (Florence), “Harmonia Cordis” (Milan), “Dulcedo ardens” (Tuscany). The concerts will be accompanied by meetings aimed at training-informing an audience of enthusiasts and onlookers.
The places planned for the daytime and evening events of the sixth edition are: Museum of San Marco, Auditorium of Sant’Apollonia, Cloister of the Ex-Leopoldine (seat of the Museo Novecento), MAD – Murate (former 15th-century monastery, before being a prison and then a multifunctional complex), the Museum of San Salvi, the Church of Santa Maria a Peretola, as well as the Ottone Rosai Auditorium; for conversations: Biblioteca delle Oblate (cia dell’Oriuolo) and Auditorium of the CR foundation in Florence (via Portinari 5); for the workshops: Casa del Popolo Il Progresso, Biblioteca CaNova, Casa del Popolo di Settignano, Biblioteca Buonarroti. Tickets for evening concerts (full € 15, for couples: two tickets € 25, reduced € 8 [studenti di scuole di musica e conservatori, giovani fino a 30 anni, adulti sopra i 65 anni]) and for some of the concerts à boire (5 euros) they can be purchased in the concert venues one hour before the show.
