Didier Lamkel Zé satisfied to have stayed in Belgium: “I know that I am loved here”
Kortrijk fell to Standard de Liège (0-1) this Sunday during the sixth day of the Jupiler Pro League. Les Rouches won thanks to a goal from Selim Amallah late in the game.
The Kortrijk supporters could not celebrate their team’s victory, but they were able to witness the debut of their new recruit Didier Lamkel Zé, lined up from the start by Karim Belhocine. The Cameroonian started the game well before gradually disappearing. “It was a tough game for us,” the winger said after the game. “Even though it was only my first game in Kortrijk colours, I can say that they have a good following. I hope we win the next game and can give something back to the fans. I I’m not 100% yet, I can feel it. This week, I’m well trained physically and I’ll do it again in the coming weeks. I hope to be 100% as soon as possible”, specified the former player of Antwerp.
The terrible child almost left Belgium this summer to join Omonia Nicosia on the Cyprus side, but the transfer was canceled at the last minute. “I am happy to have chosen Kortrijk and I am happy to have been able to stay in Belgium. I know that I am loved here. My objective is to score as many goals as possible for this club and also to be selected for the World Cup with Cameroon”, concluded Lamkel Zé.
Belhocine also saw that his new recruit still needs time. “We found him a few times in depth, but he just arrived this week. He still has to find some automation and rhythm. This game will serve him well after that. When we were reduced to ten, I had to take him out to make the change in tactics.”
