Lhe market is at half mast but certain types of vehicles are on the rise in Belgium. Here is what emerges from the statistics published by Statistics this Thursday.
In 2022, 374,597 passenger cars were registered in Belgium, i.e. 4.6% less than in 2021. 557,970 new cars were put into circulation in 2019, which means that the market has shrunk by around a third in three years.
Some types of vehicles are nonetheless doing well. Sales of new hybrid passenger cars (petrol or diesel + electric) have fallen by 15%, from 115,317 cars in 2021 to 133,184 in 2022. Sales of strictly electric vehicles have also fallen sharply. increased, from 22,774 in 2021 to 37,760 in 2022 (+66%).
