Due to the great interest, the Art deco Budapest exhibition can be visited for one more month, until September 25 – the Hungarian National Gallery (MNG) informed MTI on Saturday
So far, the Hungarian National Gallery Art deco Budapest has attracted around seventy thousand visitors. Posters, Objects, Spaces (1925-1938) exhibition. By presenting special posters, furniture, clothing, films, and urban spaces, the exhibition offers a comprehensive picture of the distinctive visual culture of the era between the two world wars, the announcement reads.
As they say, the focus of the exhibition is on Hungarian art deco art, especially poster art and modern metropolitan life. Most of the more than 250 artefacts on display are rarely exhibited or have never been seen by the public.
There has not yet been a comprehensive exhibition on the subject that would present the world of Budapest, which grew into a metropolis between the two wars, in such a complex way. In addition to the posters, the exhibition also includes illustrations from magazines, advertisements, books, illustrated magazines, as well as industrial art objects, including furniture, ceramic and glass works, clothes, accessories, and costume designs.
The exhibition features more than 130 posters and countless poster designs by the most important designers of the time, such as Róbert Berény, József Bottlik, István Irsai, Kató Lukáts, and Gitta Mallász. Their art deco posters advertised luxury goods, movies shown in cinemas, cafes and parties in Pest.
According to the information, the chamber exhibition Dancing 1925 – Hungarian artists in the Parisian night, connected to the exhibition, can also be visited for a month. The exhibition presents the Parisian nightlife of the 1920s from the perspective of three Hungarian artists: the works of Marcell Vértes, János Vaszary and Miklós Vadász evoke the vibrant atmosphere of Paris revelers.
In September, several programs await the public at the Hungarian National Gallery. Guided tours are regularly held in the exhibitions, and on the 21st, the fall Borszerda evening, the exhibitions can be visited until 10 p.m., the summary states.
