Skyscraper near Lužánek in Brno: the developer withdrew the application, residents became nervous
A question mark hangs over the established construction of a skyscraper in Lidicka Street in Brno. Developer Miroslav Kachlík withdrew the application for the construction of a high-rise building and wants to continue negotiations with the city. “We primarily disagree with the depth of the development. In addition, it should also be allowed to connect to the surrounding buildings,” said the deputy mayor of Brno, Petr Hladík.

The original Triangl Tower was supposed to rise to a height of almost ninety meters, which officials ticked off. The developer’s new plan therefore envisaged an apartment building just under forty meters high. However, even after meeting the height limit, the city management rejected the support proposal.
“The project documentation was submitted to the building authority and the city is going to disagree with the proposal. In the end, the investor withdrew the application himself and decided to proceed with further negotiations,” said Hladík. According to him, the meeting with the developer will take place next week.
We don’t even want half a skyscraper, residents of Lidická Street in Brno are rioting
The councilors of the Brno-střed district, in which Lidická street is located, also rejected the proposal. They demand the preservation of the current conditions for the use of neighboring houses or the preservation of the character of the surrounding buildings. “We reflect the demands of the Brno-Střed councilors and take their conditions into account,” added Hladík.
Felling rare plane trees
A big thorn in the side of local residents and councilors is the possible felling of two massive sycamore trees, which are supposed to replace the parking lot in the project. Due to their age and size, the trees are unique in Brno. Their removal by district had a major impact on the environment of the inner block.
For example, Gabriela Stögerová from the Sousedé Lužánek association, which has been fighting against the construction of the skyscraper for a long time, is not too happy about the withdrawal of the application. He fears that the developer has good relations with the current city management. “We see it as a break before the elections, because a case does not suit the political leadership of the town hall right now. At least we’ll gather our strength properly and then we’ll see,” she responded to current developments.

According to Stöger, the developer is not in contact with the local people and is not trying to find a common solution. “If we manage to at least reduce the volume of development so that the plane trees remain here, I will consider it a success,” she added.
Deník Rovnost tried to contact the investor, but could not be reached. The server idnes was the first to inform about the withdrawal of the application.
